About Me
Hello, I'm happy you are here. You've made it to this page because you've chosen to honour nature and have it be present in your life. For that, I am grateful. We have much in common.
I grew up in the deep south. Mississippi Queen. This is where my infatuation with nature and the outdoors blossomed. If i wasn't climbing high in an apple tree, my hands were always in the dirt. Our family garden was overflowing with deep colored root vegetables, tall glistening green spikey okra, tomatoes of every hue of red, and squash blossoms that hummed of buttercup yellow and tinges of orange. My favorites were the purple hull peas. That color story just could not be matched. Greens and purples melting into each other with bits of blues and blacks throughout. Outside the rows of the rich vegetables, were rows of Zinnias and sunflowers my mom would plant. Neon orange, yellow, pinks and greens that looked as though they had been painted pristine with a paintbrush and a steady hand. Their stalks were slender but sturdy. These were the first freshly grown flowers I got my hands on. And I haven't been the same since.
I had the privilege of studying Horticulture at Mississippi State University and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Plant and Soil Sciences with a concentration in Floral Management. My labs were mostly plant identification (Latin) or design courses. I traveled to Aaslmeer in Holland and saw the bidding room where flowers are purchased and sent all over the globe. By the time I finished school, I had 3 years of experience in the retail floral industry. I moved to Nashville and soon began my career. I was the inhouse florist and gardener for an all inclusive wedding venue. At the end of my 3rd and final season there, I had produced 150+ weddings.
Soon after that, I was the co owner and operator of a botanically immersed personal training studio that was also a plant shop and event space. My interest in herbalism and plant medicine took the forefront. We ran events and workshops for 2 years in a space that would make any plant lover swoon. We focused heavily on set and stage design for incoming artists and musicians.
My next adventure began in June of 2022. I was added to an amazing team of freelance florists who did destination weddings all over the world. This opened so many doors and my floral network tripled. I've been lucky to work under some incredible designers and business women in this field.
The year 2023 landed me in Venice Beach, CA. I assisted in opening and then managing a retail floral vintage and ceramic shop. This was a special shop and only purchased local, in season non sprayed blooms and greenery. It kept the Earth close to heart. I was so inspired.
Over my career, I've traveled, worked in groups and worked alone. I've done large and small events and everything in between. I've been a student and taught my own workshops. I've learned that when we keep the Earth close, we are honoring our own and
our neighbor. Whatever way plant life is calling you, I would be honored to walk that path with you (and make it gorgeous).
